United reluctant over Darmian asking price

United reluctant over Darmian asking price

Manchester United have been on an extensive search for a new right back and, according to recent reports, they have now turned their attention to Torino’s Matteo Darmian.

However Sky Sports Italia have reported that any move for the 25-year-old has been dealt a blow by Torino’s chairman. Urbano Cairo has placed a £14 million price tag on Darmian’s head, which United are supposedly hesitant to pay.

Having missed out on previous targets Dani Alves and Nathaniel Clyne, United will be keen to avoid any other disappointments in the transfer market. Any potential deal for Darmian could be effected by United’s much-publicised pursuit of Sergio Ramos.

Darmian came through the youth ranks at AC Milan but failed to land a regular first team place and he subsequently joined Palermo. After making just 16 appearances for Palermo he agreed to join Torino in 2011.

His form at Torino, where he has made 152 appearances and scored 6 goals (including 5 in the 2014/15 campaign), has helped him earn international recognition with the Italian national side. Darmian started in the 2-1 win over England at the 2014 World Cup and has won 13 caps for the Azzurri.
