The talk of Sergio Ramos joining Manchester United this summer has faded away somewhat recently, as media focus has been on their hunt for a striker and the rumours that Otamendi is on his way have been more prevalent alongside this.
However, Spanish media have caused another huge flurry by suggesting that the World Cup winner WILL be playing his games at Old Trafford next season – and they won’t be away fixtures in a Madrid shirt.
AS report that Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, has flown to China today (Tuesday) to talk to the player as he has refused to move himself from the position that he wishes to leave the club. He has been pictured smiling on Real Madrid’s Instagram account and was happy to go on tour to Asia and Australia with the club, but despite being made captain of Los Blancos, he maintains that he wants to join Manchester United.
Sky Sports reported when United made their official bid for the player, which was rejected, that Ramos was only interested in joining United – not any other club – and was adamant that he would leave Madrid this summer.
There is plenty of time left for signings to be made, as Louis van Gaal reminded everyone in his pre-match press conference with Chris Smalling, so Ramos is’t yet running out of time to see his wishes to move turn into a reality.
AS, one of Spain’s biggest media outlets, also say that a €60,000,000 (£42.1m) offer has been made for Ramos by Manchester United, and that the player has a personal agreement with the club that he will join them in the summer.
A different publication, El Pais, state the same figure for the supposed bid; but also add that an increasing number of Real Madrid officials are pressuring Florentino Perez to accept United’s advances and let Ramos leave.
United getting hold of Ramos would inevitably lead to the sale of De Gea to Real Madrid – unless Woodward plans on playing hardball with the Spanish giants.
