With the departure of Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao it is no secret that Manchester United are in the market for a top-class striker. However Louis Van Gaal has refused to be drawn into commenting on who his target, simply stating that it isn’t the striker the media are suggesting.
Manchester United have been linked with moves for Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller and Barcelona’s Pedro however David McDonnell, from the Mirror, has revealed that the striker in question is Juventus forward Fernando Llorente.
Llorente hasn’t been prolific since joining the Italian giants netting just 27 times in 90 appearances. Van Gaal has though complained about the lack of height in the current United side and bringing in Llorente with his impressive 6 foot 5 stature would go someway in addressing that issue.
As seems to be the case with every Manchester United transfer this season, Real Madrid could be influential in The Red Devils transfer window success. They are also believed to be in the market for Llorente as the back up option they need due to Chicharito returning to United.
This news has emerged as Di Maria to PSG transfer developed as officials from the French club held talks with Ed Woodward in London on Monday.
