With Luis Nani and Robin van Persie having left Old Trafford to join Fenerbahce already this summer, the Turkish Super Lig has done well out of Louis van Gaal’s unwanted men; and another is set to make the move across Europe.
Sky Sports News HQ have revealed that Besiktas have agreed a fee with United for goalkeeper Victor Valdes, with the broadcaster stating on their TV channel that the deal is subject to the consent of the manager, who now has to decide whether or not he wants the player.
Valdes has been frozen out of the United set-up, having trained with the club at the start of last season as a rehabilitation for his injury after having been released by Barcelona. Having watched him in training, Louis van Gaal decided in January that the fit-again Spaniard was deserving of a contract, so signed him on an 18-month deal, which will expire in July 2016.
Valdes played for half an hour against Arsenal in the league last season, then the full 90 minutes in the next game, away to Hull, following an injury to David de Gea in the club’s final home game of the season against the Gunners, which finished 1-1.
