Tyler Blackett has signed for reigning Scottish champions Celtic on a season long loan.
The Hoops confirmed on their official website that the young left-sided centre-back/left-back will play in green and white for the remainder of the season.
He played a total of 12 games for United last season including the 5-3 humiliation against Leicester where he was sent off. This loan move will give him valuable game time and match experience which hopefully he will take into the 2016/17 season at Old Trafford to try to establish himself as a first-team defender.
Blackett is behind Shaw, Blind and Rojo in the left-back pecking order and is even further behind at centre-back, with Smalling, Jones, Blind, Rojo and Paddy McNair all ahead of him so with that in mind, going out on loan was the best chance for him to earn some valuable first team minutes.
With the rumours of a transfer to Southampton for defender Virgil van Dijk, Celtic have moved fast to ensure a replacement is there if the move does happen.
