Real Madrid and Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement for the transfer of David de Gea, according to Marca.
The Spanish paper reports that the fee will between €30 and €35 million, and de Gea will become a Real player in a matter of hours, therefore concluding a summer-long transfer saga.
Real and United are also negotiating the transfer of Costa Rican keeper Keylor Navas separate to the de Gea deal, but it is unclear whether this will go through. United are reportedly keen on Navas to join and Real want to sell him to United, but according to AS and Cadena SER, the 28-year old is not keen on leaving the Spanish capital.
de Gea has not played for United so far this season, as Louis van Gaal has consigned the Spaniard to the sidelines due to the constant speculation surrounding the future. In his absence, Sergio Romero took the first team spot between the sticks, although the Argentinian has come under fire for his performance in the 2-1 defeat to Swansea City yesterday.
It is a bitter blow for the Reds to lose de Gea, given that the club have said that they would not be selling the keeper under any circumstances. But it seems that Real have met United’s valuation of the keeper and he will be off to Madrid in the next couple of hours. Perhaps the only thing to come out of this is that United will be getting €30-35 million for a player with a year left on his contract.
