Lingard and Johnstone on the move

Lingard and Johnstone on the move

Highly rated Manchester United youngsters Jesse Lingard and Sam Johnstone are being looked at for potential loan deals to Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City respectively.

Lingard, who spent part of last season on loan at Championship side Derby, is being looked at by Sheffield Wednesday. Wednesday scout Glenn Roeder was sent to a recent Manchester United U-21 game in order to observe Lingard, a game in which Lingard netted. Wednesday currently sit 11th in the Championship and are hopeful that Lingard can improve their side, as he is extremely unlikely to break into the United starting XI.

Hull are interested in Sam Johnstone, with the 22-year-old being down the pecking order at Old Trafford. Hull’s assistant coach Gary Walsh was also at a recent U-21’s game, to watch Johnstone in action.

Johnstone looked good in pre-season, but with Sergio Romero and the returning David De Gea both ahead him in the pecking order, Johnstone will be keen to develop somewhere else, in order to gain first team football.
