Sevilla rule out Valdés move

Sevilla have ruled out a move for Manchester United keeper Victor Valdés, according to Spanish press agency Europapress.

The former Barcelona keeper joined the Reds in January, but he has only played two games for the club and has been frozen out by Louis van Gaal after the Dutchman claimed that Valdés had refused to play in a reserve game. Despite being named in United’s Premier League squad, it was confirmed that it had only been done in order to conform to league rules, and the Spaniard was still free to leave the club.

And the Andalusian club have been linked with a move for the 33-year old, but the club president Pepe Castro has come out and said that they have no interest whatsoever in signing Valdés.

“Valdes is not an option. We have no intention of finding goalkeeping cover,” he said.

“We have three or four players for that position and Sergio Rico is the one closest to keeping it for many years. If we have good keepers, we don’t have to go looking elsewhere for them.”

Chelsea, Liverpool and Valencia have also been linked with moves for the former Barcelona man in recent weeks, but it seems that Valdés’ future is no closer to being solved, and he’ll be staying at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.
