Manchester United have joined the race to sign Napoli midfielder Jorginho, according to the Daily Express.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked away from Serie A, with PSG and more recently, Liverpool being linked with making a move for the Brazilian-born Italian.
As per the Daily Express, Louis van Gaal’s interest in Jorginho was roused in the summer, after his representatives who worked on the deal to bring Matteo Darmian to Old Trafford gave him added information on the Napoli star.
Starting his career at Hellas Verona, Jorginho played a pivotal role in Verona achieving promotion to Serie A, where remarkably Jorginho scored seven goals in his first four months in the league, inspiring a move to a bigger club. Since joining Napoli in January 2014, the defensive midfielder has made 44 appearances for the famous Italian club. However, due to playing deeper, Jorginho is yet to register a league goal for Napoli.

Jorginho has appeared in six of Napoli’s seven games so far this season in Serie A after being made a regular in last season’s side which finished fifth and secured a Europa League spot. Consequently, Jorginho will not be allowed to leave Stadio San Paolo on the cheap.
However, with interest mounting from elsewhere, a Manchester United move for the Italian could develop sooner rather than later, to secure his services before a Premier League rival does.
