United told they can have £35m La Liga man

Manchester United have been told by La Liga side Athletic Club that they can have their man.

The Old Trafford club are known to have been tracking French defender Aymeric Laporte for quite some time now and according to El Correo via The Daily Star, the Basque club have accepted defeat and are ready to let the talented centre-back move to the Premier League.

The price they are quoting United is £35 million – this is the value of the La Liga man’s release clause. This means that if United don’t act quickly in either January or in the summer transfer window next year, any other club with that amount at their disposal would be able to take him from under the nose of Woodward and van Gaal.

These clubs may be Manchester City, Chelsea or Barcelona, who are all interested in the highly-rated Frenchman. Louis van Gaal is known to be trying to build a legacy at Old Trafford and Laporte would certainly fit the bill of being a player who could represent the club for a long time, alongside the likes of David de Gea, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial.
