Manchester United’s midfield is plentiful, boasting talents such as the World Cup-winning Bastian Schweinsteiger, Basque midfielder Ander Herrera, and French international Morgan Schneiderlin.
That’s not enough for Louis van Gaal, though. According to the Evening Standard, United are looking to bring teenage West Ham United midfielder Reece Oxford to Old Trafford.
Oxford, who turns seventeen later this month, made his Premier League debut on the opening weekend of the 2015-16 season in a shock Hammers win over Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.
He put in an absolutely exceptional display as his side overcame the Gunners on that Sunday afternoon – but has only played twice in the league since then, as other first-team players have since returned from injury.

The young box-to-box midfielder is expected to sign a new contract with the Upton Park side, but Louis van Gaal’s United could tempt him, as the Dutch manager is known for giving chances to youth.
If he were to make the switch to Old Trafford, the plan may be to make him Timothy Fosu-Mensah’s long-term midfield partner for the Red Devils, as United youngsters like Timothy, Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Axel Tuanzebe are brought through to the first team.
