Pearson to return from Barnsley loan

Manchester United midfielder Ben Pearson will be returning from his loan spell with League One side Barnsley.

The 20-year-old, who has been compared to the likes of Roy Keane and Paul Scholes previously, has earned rave reviews for his performances with the Tykes this season.

Pearson made 28 appearances in all competitions for Barnsley and will now return to Old Trafford within the next week in the hopes of competing for a first-team place in Louis van Gaal’s side.

Barnsley manager Lee Johnson praised Pearson’s contribution during his time at Oakwell, saying to the official club website:

I love him to bits and think he’s a fantastic player and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed our part as staff as trying to develop him technically and mentally as a player.

He’s maturing all the time and the last two performances have really shown that. Technically he’s fantastic and his range of passing has improved.

Ben’s a great kid and all I can do is thank him for the effort he’s put in and hopefully, one day, when he’s writing his book his book after a great career he’ll mention us all.

Pearson, who won the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year for the 2012-13 season, has been linked with a move to Bournemouth in recent weeks. United fans will hope that this move won’t come to fruition, as the Oldham-born midfielder is a good prospect and one will hope that his opportunity comes soon.
