United ready to swoop for Premier League star

Manchester United are ready to make a shocking £65 million move for Chelsea star Eden Hazard, according to the Daily Star.

The Reds will turn their attentions to the Belgian winger after being told that they have no chance of signing Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.

Bale had long been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but Real will refuse to do business with United in the wake of David de Gea’s failed move to the Santiago Bernabeu last summer.

As a result, United will do battle with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich to secure Hazard’s services in what could become the biggest transfer story of the summer.

The 25-year-old Belgian international has had a torrid season at Stamford Bridge, with multiple reports suggesting that he has already decided to leave the current Premier League champions at the end of the season.

He has struggled for form and fitness, failing to score a single goal and only assisting four in all competitions, but remains one of the Premier League’s top players when he is on song.

And United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been given the green light to lure Hazard to Old Trafford on a £250,000-a-week deal as part of a summer spending spree.

A source told the paper:

The club has to be realistic and realise that signing Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo remains a long shot, which means alternative targets come into the equation.

Eden Hazard is certainly one of those and the type of player United need if they want to start winning trophies again.
