Spanish radio station Cadena COPE claims Manchester United have sent officials to Spain to negotiate a deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez.
They report that the Reds have made a €20 million offer for the Spanish under-21 international, but Atletico will not let the 21-year-old leave in the January transfer window.
However, United are hopeful that a deal can be done for Saul in the summer and it has been reported before that the midfielder has a €24 million release clause in his current contract.

Saul has been in great form in the centre of the park for Atleti this season and has often been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past.
Back in December, Spanish paper El Confidencial reported that the boyhood Atleti supporter would be heading to Arsenal this month, but the deal was scrapped due to the broken leg suffered by Tiago, leaving Diego Simeone’s side short of numbers in centre midfield.
The 21-year-old, who has appeared for Spain at all youth levels, had also been linked with a move to United a couple of years back while he was on loan at fellow La Liga side Rayo Vallecano.

However, the midfielder ended up signing a new contract at the Vicente Calderon, lasting until 2018 and in the meantime has become an integral part of Simeone’s hard-working side.
