Manchester United are keeping an eye on Pachuca winger Hirving Lozano, according to the president of the Mexican club.

Jesus Martinez revealed that chief scout Jim Lawlor has been making trips to Hidalgo to scout Lozano, as well as his team-mates Erick Gutiérrez and Rodolfo Pizarro.

But it’s 20-year-old Lozano who is the chief subject of Lawlor’s reports. The youngster has been labelled as one of the best young prospects to come out of Mexico in recent years and ‘Chucky’, as he is nicknamed, has also attracted the interest of Portuguese side Porto.

Speaking to the Mexican affiliate of Fox Sports, the Pachuca president confirmed United’s presence and said that he would be delighted if one of the two clubs came in for the Mexican international.

Martinez said:

[The chief scout] has been coming here to do special reports on our players, but especially Chucky.

We would love it if he had to go that it would be to a team like Manchester United or Porto.

Lozano, who is right-footed but plays on the left-hand side of midfield, recently made his first two appearances for the Mexican national team and would follow in the footsteps of Javier Hernandez if he were to make the move to Old Trafford.
