Manchester United are aiming to beat Juventus to the signing of pint-sized Monaco playmaker Bernardo Silva in the summer.
According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, the Old Lady had been aiming to sign the Portuguese international in the January transfer window but had been put off by the €20 million price tag demanded by the Monegasque club.
However, their decision to come back for the 21-year-old in the summer may come back to haunt them, because it seems that the Reds have joined the race for one of Europe’s hottest prospects.

Silva, who joined Monaco from Portuguese side Benfica in January 2015 after an initial spell on loan for a fee of €15.75 million, has been the main creative outlet in Leonardo Jardim’s side, creating a total of 31 chances in Ligue 1 this season, the second highest at the Stade Louis II.
And the midfield schemer is set to have a starring role in the Portugal side that will be aiming to win Euro 2016 in France this summer, having earnt the first of his five caps for Fernando Santos’ side in March last year.
Silva’s international team-mates, Renato Sanches and Andre Gomes, have also been linked with moves to Old Trafford in recent months.
United’s options in the number ten role seem adequate for the moment, with the likes of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Wayne Rooney and Andreas Pereira all competing for the role at present, but Silva could add an extra creative dimension to this static Reds side.
