Espanyol are looking to sign out-of-favour Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes this summer.
The 34-year-old has been ostracised at Old Trafford since falling out with manager Louis van Gaal last summer and recently had a loan spell with Belgian side Standard Liege, where he helped the side win the Belgian Cup, end prematurely
And Spanish paper Sport, quoting reports from AS, say that Espanyol could hand the ex-Barcelona keeper a return to the city where he first made himself a household name.

Espanyol’s Chinese owner, Chen Yansheng, is apparently keen on building the Periquitos into a top Spanish side and Valdes is one of the main players he wants to see arriving at the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat once the club have ensured that they will not be relegated from La Liga this season.
The report also says that Valdes is open to a return to Catalonia and it certainly will not cost Espanyol anything to sign the former Spanish international, given that his contract expires in June.
With Barcelona, Valdés won La Liga six times and the Champions League three times before a cruciate ligament injury suffered in March 2014 ended his career at the Camp Nou.

United seemed to have revived the keeper’s career after signing him on a free transfer in early 2015, but Valdes served as David de Gea’s deputy at Old Trafford and only made two appearances before being frozen out this season.
