Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United utility man Daley Blind, according to Spanish paper Sport.
According to earlier reports by Sky Sports, Blind is among the players that José Mourinho has deemed as surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and the La Liga champions have emerged as surprise favourites to sign the Dutchman as they look to reinforce their defence.
The 26-year-old has been offered out to Europe’s top clubs by his agent, Rob Jansen, who reportedly has a very good working relationship with the Catalan club.
And it seems that Barca have had their eye on Blind for some time, having led the race for the Dutch international’s signature while he was at Ajax, before United swooped in and took Blind to Old Trafford for a fee of £13.8 million in the summer of 2014.
Blind had been one of Louis van Gaal’s standout signings during his time in Manchester, adapting seamlessly into the side and even cementing himself as a first-team regular in central defence alongside Chris Smalling, making 56 appearances in all competitions for the Reds this season alone.
However, it seems that Blind’s diminutive stature does not fit Mourinho’s profile of a central defender and therefore he could be on his way out of Old Trafford.
