Manchester United are looking to complete a surprise £1 million move for Sheffield United forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to the Daily Mail.
The Reds are short on strikers at Under-23 level with the promotion of Marcus Rashford into the first-team fold and the departure of Ashley Fletcher to West Ham in the summer. Will Keane is also expected to depart in the next few days, with the club having agreed a fee with Hull City for the 23-year-old.
With Warren Joyce’s side competing in the Premier League International Cup this season, United will need depth at reserve level to mount a challenge and they are looking to close a deal for the highly-rated Calvert-Lewin.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Northampton Town last term, scoring eight goals in 26 appearances during the first half of the season as the Cobblers won the League Two title under the management of current Blades boss Chris Wilder.
That attracted the interest of Everton, who looked to sign for the Sheffield-born youngster earlier this summer, but the deal fell through at the last hurdle. Calvert-Lewin has also attracted the interest of several Championship sides, who are looking to take the striker on loan.
Calvert-Lewin, who made his Sheffield United debut in a 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient in the 2014-15 season, has made one appearance for the Blades this season – as a late substitute in his side’s 2-1 EFL Cup extra-time defeat to Crewe earlier this month.
