N’Golo Kante has revealed that Manchester United manager José Mourinho had tried to convince the Frenchman to sign for the Reds this summer prior to his move to Chelsea.
The 25-year-old was one of the breakout stars at Leicester City as the Foxes shocked the world to win the Premier League title last season and he went on to play a pivotal role with France as they finished runners-up at Euro 2016 earlier this summer.
And Kante has said that he received a phone call from Mourinho just weeks after helping Leicester to the title, but despite discussions with the Portuguese manager, he decided against a move to Old Trafford and instead signed for the Blues in a £32 million deal.

According to Sky Sports, the French international said:
It was amazing to have Mourinho call me, even though I’d been warned before how he would appeal to me.
I listened to his arguments about why I should move to United.
But at that time I was hesitant between staying at Leicester or leaving for Chelsea.
My discussions with them were already well underway. But when I spoke, I had a good feeling with Conte.
Kante has started all three Premier League games for Antonio Conte’s side as they made a perfect start to the season, but it would have been intriguing to see him in this current United side, where he would have certainly partnered Paul Pogba in the middle of the park.
