New PSG signing rejected chance to join United

Paris Saint-Germain new boy Goncalo Guedes has revealed that he turned down a move to Manchester United during the January transfer window.

The Portuguese winger, who is widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents in European football, signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the French champions last month.

According to RMC Sport, Goncalo chose PSG because they are a ‘big club’:

“I know that English and French football are different but honestly, I think that for someone my age, for someone young, it was was better to come to PSG because it’s a big club.”

“Manchester would have helped me too, but I’d feel more at home here than in England.”

In the past two and a half seasons, Guedes played 68 league games for former club Benfica, scoring eleven goals.

A fantastic dribbler of the football, young Goncalo also has an eye for a pass – but unlike most young wingers, he is also very good at tracking back and helping his defence out.

He made his PSG debut in their most recent game, coming off the bench for a 3-minute cameo at the end of their 1-1 home draw with AS Monaco.
