Manchester United have announced that the club have agreed a fee with Portuguese side Benfica for the transfer of Victor Lindelof – but who is the newest Red Devil?
Victor Jorgen Nilsson Lindelof, born in Vasteras, Sweden in 1994, is one of Europe’s most coveted young centre-backs – and United appear to have had their eyes on him for some time.

Lindelof’s career began at his hometown club, Vasteras SK, who he helped to promotion to the Swedish second division in his debut season in 2010-11.
In December 2011, the Swede signed for Liga NOS side Benfica, playing for their youth side, Benfica B, in his first season in Portugal.
He was promoted to the senior side during the 2013-14 season, making 2 appearances for the historic club, whilst also featuring a further 33 times for the B team.

His first season of notable impact with Benfica didn’t come until 2015-16, when he made 15 league appearances and 23 in all competitions for The Eagles.
It was during the 2015-16 season that United were first linked with Lindelof – who has now made 12 appearances for his national side. It’s no secret that United scouted him on many occasions over the past two or three seasons – there is almost always a Red Devils scout at the Estadio da Luz.
In 2016-17, Lindelof made 47 appearances for Benfica, scoring one goal – and what a goal it was!

He also scored his so-far solitary goal for Sweden in the most recent campaign – it came in a 3-0 win over Bulgaria back in October 2016.
An exciting young player who is confident on the ball and has a great eye for a pass, Lindelof should fit in very nicely at United – all that’s left now is for a contract to be agreed and for the young Swede to pass his medical!
