Manchester United are in a good position to sign French international Antoine Griezmann next summer, following Diego Costa’s return to the club from Premier League champions Chelsea.
This comes according to ESPN, who claim that although Griezmann signed a new contract with the La Liga side during the last transfer window, he is still willing to move to Old Trafford and ensured this summer that his €100m release clause was still in place.

United looked certain to sign the French striker this summer before Atletico Madrid were handed a transfer ban which saw Griezmann commit his future to the side from the Spanish capital — and the Red Devils then went on to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton instead.
However, ESPN’s report states that both Jose Mourinho and Griezmann himself are still keen for the move to take place, and now that Atletico have agreed a deal with Chelsea for the return of Diego Costa, there is more scope for Griezmann to make the switch to Old Trafford.

A move from United could come in January though, with that aforementioned release clause in Griezmann’s contract still active, as well as the Spanish side’s transfer ban being over as of that transfer window commencing.
