Five Manchester United Stars Who Must Be Sold Including Marcus Rashford
  • Marcus Rashford and four others should exit at Manchester United
  • Three of the five players are already on loan as it stands
  • One player has seven games left for redemption

With just seven games left until the end of the Premier League season, it is time for INEOS to kick off their summer clear-out, featuring five high-profile names who have combined for 697 appearances for Manchester United.

Whilst numerous names are facing the reality of being sold during the summer, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, and Joshua Zirkzee are the five high-profile names who are at risk of leaving the Red Devils.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and André Onana are already out on loan, with Sancho moving to his third club on loan in as many seasons.

Only Joshua Zirkzee has a real chance of being able to prove his worth, with the Dutchman having to impress in the next seven games under Michael Carrick.

Marcus Rashford

The most likely to leave the club, Rashford burned his bridges with the Red Devils in late 2024, leaving after a breakdown in his relationship with coach Ruben Amorim, who cited his lack of commitment.

Since then, he has spent the past season and a half on loan, beginning at Aston Villa before moving to Barcelona this season.

Despite his strong start at the Catalan side, he has played just 199 minutes in Barca’s last nine league matches, with the English forward remaining benched for two of those matches.

Rashford will remain a valuable asset for Hansi Flick’s side, contributing 23 goals in 39 games, and with the Blaugrana still chasing both the La Liga title and Champions League glory, his impact could prove decisive.

It remains likely he will join Barcelona in the summer. Reports suggest he is eager to secure a permanent switch to Camp Nou.

Jadon Sancho

Manchester United fans cannot wait to see the back of Jadon Sancho. The English forward arrived at the club in the summer of 2021, capping off a drawn-out pursuit with Borussia Dortmund that felt more like a slow-burning romance than a transfer saga.

For a fee of £73 million, many would expect a world-class talent who dazzles from the very first moment; a player whose arrival carries the promise of magic on the pitch and a leader of it.

Instead, United found themselves with a pre-teen stuck in a man’s body.

A saga of social media dramas, clashes with manager Erik Ten Hag, and a level of immaturity that overshadowed a talent that could have been special.

What makes this situation even worse is that Sancho will leave on a free when his contract ends on 30 June 2026. Undoubtedly one of the worst signings in Manchester United’s illustrious history.

Andre Onana

After over two full seasons at Manchester United, playing over 102 games in the process, it seems likely that the Red Devils will see the back of error-strewn goalkeeper Andre Onana.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper joined the club on 20 July 2023, and never truly got going in a United shirt.

Despite being described as a ‘modern keeper’ who could ‘play out from the back’ like no other in Europe, we rarely saw this side of his game as Onana looked erratic and inconsistent between the posts.

In April last year, just ahead of Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final first leg against Lyon, Onana fired back at Lyon midfielder and former United star Nemanja Matić, who had labelled him “one of the worst goalkeepers in Manchester United history.”

The Cameroonian shot back: “At least I’ve lifted trophies with the greatest club in the world. Some can’t say the same.”

He then proceeded to have a howler of a game, letting Thiago Almada’s weak free-kick slip past him before parrying the ball in the dying moments straight to Rayan Cherki, who made no mistake, blasting it into the net to level the tie 2-2 on the night.

Onana is currently out on loan at Turkish club Trabzonspor, where he has kept five clean sheets in 23 games. The shot-stopper has impressed, with his performances helping push the club up to third in the table, four places higher than last season.

It is likely he will remain in Turkey for the foreseeable future.

Altay Bayindir

It has just never seemed to work out for Altay Bayindir at Manchester United.

Despite having a terrific match against Arsenal in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, Bayindir has never been able to replicate that form and now looks likely to leave the club in the summer.

The Turkish shot-stopper was given a chance at the start of the season after Onana was sent on loan to Trabzonspor. However, he failed to take his chance and has failed to get a look in after his error-strewn first six games of the season, in which he shipped 11 goals, as the Red Devils dropped to 14th in the league.

With Senne Lammens firmly established as first choice, it seems likely that Bayindir will join fellow goalkeeper Onana in leaving the club, reuniting with his former teammate in Turkey.

Joshua Zirkzee

The only player on this list who has any real likelihood of saving their Manchester United career is Joshua Zirkzee.

The Dutchman has had only fleeting chances to make his mark at United, but he has rarely taken them when they have come his way.

In a 2-0 loss to Newcastle on 30 December 2024, the Old Trafford faithful booed Zirkzee off, forcing the striker into a long, uncomfortable walk from the pitch, head lowered beneath the weight of expectation.

Whilst he has improved from that ghastly performance, he is yet to hit full stride at United.

69 games and nine goals is simply not enough for a second-choice striker, let alone a first-choice.

With seven games left of this season, Joshua Zirkzee must impress Michael Carrick and the United board if he wants any chance of staying at the club.
