  • Man Utd still expected to sign Ederson
  • A lack of update isn’t a concern
  • Negotiations heading in right direction

Ederson is still expected to become a Manchester United player despite a lack of an update on his proposed transfer. The Brazilian midfielder could become Michael Carrick’s first signing as head coach.

According to SullyTalkz, there is no rush from United to complete the deal and it isn’t stalling. He is prioritising a move to Old Trafford and it is anticipated to go through.

Ederson is awaiting confirmation of the financial details between the two clubs before making the switch. He could be the first of as many as three new central midfield signings.

Man Utd’s Ederson swoop

United moved fast in last summer’s transfer window to win the race for Matheus Cunha. The club triggered his £62.7m release clause in his contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Reds’ pursuit of Ederson differs and it’s important to note that the window doesn’t officially open until June 15th. There is no need for INEOS to rush negotiations but a £38m deal does look to have been agreed.

Ederson has been a mainstay in Atalanta’s side throughout his spell at Gewiss Stadium. This season, he has made 30 appearances in Serie A, posting two goals and one assist.

United are likely to have few issues in discussions with the Italian club, as they have previously conducted business with one another. Rasmus Hojlund and Amad Diallo both moved from Bergamo to Manchester in recent years.

All that is probably left is for both clubs to make an announcement regarding their agreement. The player will then be on his way to Carrington for a medical.

An important summer

Ederson could be a good start to the summer for United as they look to continue a rebuild under INEOS’ co-ownership. They have taken over sporting operations and are driving the recruitment.

That said, the Brazilian cannot be the only midfield arrival, and there’s plenty of work to do over the coming months. Replacing Casemiro is the main priority, and that must be a marquee signing.

Aurelien Tchouameni fits the bill given his profile and status in European football. The Red Devils are reportedly prepared to move for the French midfielder if Real Madrid allow him to leave.

Midfield isn’t the only area of Carrick’s squad that will surely be addressed. A new left-back could be on the cards, along with a more potent backup striker to Benjamin Sesko.
