Breaking: Ex Man Utd star Christian Eriksen collapses on international duty

Former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed during Denmark’s pre-World Cup friendly against Ukraine. The veteran star received immediate medical attention and the game was called off.

Eriksen is said to be conscious and doing well under the circumstances. He clutched his chest and fell down before all players gathered around him, and the medical staff raced onto the pitch.

The 34-year-old collapsed on the pitch in June 2021, when Denmark faced Finland during Euro 2020. He suffered a cardiac arrest and received CPR before being rushed to the hospital, where he was stabilised.

Eriksen recovered, and doctors fitted a defibrillator implant into his heart, allowing him to miraculously continue his football career. He left Inter Milan and headed to Brentford in January 2022 before joining United in the summer of 2022.

The Dane made 107 appearances for the Red Devils, posting eight goals and 19 assists. He was part of the squad that won the League Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

On this occasion, it doesn’t appear that he has suffered a cardiac arrest. A statement from Danish FA reads: “Christian Eriksen is conscious and feeling well according to the circumstances. The match has been called off.”

Denmark were 2-1 ahead against Ukraine at the time with Patrick Dorgu on the scoresheet. But the game was abandoned after Eriksen collapsed.

All of us at Read Man Utd wish Eriksen the best, and our thoughts are with him and his family.

matchday.
