Mason Mount Not-For-Sale Claim Gives Manchester United Clear Midfield Signal

Manchester United have no plans to sell Mason Mount this summer despite reported AC Milan interest.

According to Chris Wheeler for the Daily Mail, United are not looking to move Mount on and remain unaware of any talks over the midfielder. The report adds that Mount has no intention of leaving Old Trafford either, despite speculation around a possible £21.5m Milan bid.

That gives Michael Carrick one less attacking-midfield uncertainty before pre-season starts. Mount has endured a stop-start United career since joining from Chelsea, but his versatility now matters more because the midfield picture has shifted quickly.

Mount Stance Matters After Ugarte Blow

Mount can play in the midfield pivot or from one of the wide roles in a 4-2-3-1. That flexibility makes him more valuable while United reshape the squad around Carrick’s next system.

The Daily Mail report also notes that Mount has worked with a coach in Spain on an individual fitness programme. The first group of United players are due back at Carrington on July 9.

That timing matters. United have already started their midfield rebuild after Casemiro’s departure, while Manuel Ugarte’s serious World Cup knee injury has changed the transfer picture again. ReadManUtd has already analysed how Ugarte’s injury gives United a Mateus Fernandes transfer test.

United have agreed a £39m deal with Atalanta for Ederson and remain linked with West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes. In that context, selling Mount would create another hole rather than solve one.

The £21.5m figure also makes little strategic sense for United. Mount cost far more, still offers tactical variety and now has a chance to prove his fitness from the start of pre-season.

For Carrick, the decision looks simple. Unless Milan turn speculation into a serious offer, Mount’s value to United’s squad outweighs the case for a cut-price exit.
