Manchester United Track Juventus Midfielder Khéphren Thuram

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram as Liverpool consider a move for the France international.

CaughtOffside reports that Liverpool have renewed their interest in Thuram, while United are also monitoring his situation. The report claims Juventus could ask for around €50m, which works out at about £43m.

That price puts Thuram below some of the more expensive midfield names linked with Michael Carrick’s rebuild, but it still requires a clear plan from United.

Thuram, 25, joined Juventus from Nice in 2024 and signed a five-year contract running until June 2029. Juventus list him as a midfielder, while Transfermarkt lists him as a 1.92m central midfielder.

Carrick Needs More Midfield Strength

United have looked at several midfield options this summer.

ReadManUtd has already covered how Aurelien Tchouameni and Alex Scott sit in the club’s thinking, with both deals carrying obvious cost and difficulty.

Thuram would offer a different route. He has size, carrying power and Serie A experience, and his age still fits a longer-term squad build.

Juventus’ own player profile lists 44 appearances, 3,046 minutes, four goals and four assists. That gives United a strong recent sample, even if any Premier League move would still carry adaptation risk.

Carrick needs a midfield with more physical security and control. United have already worked through too many games where the centre of the pitch has lacked balance.

Thuram could help address that, but United need to decide where he sits on the list.

Liverpool Interest Sharpens United’s Call

Liverpool’s interest gives the situation more urgency.

United do not need to chase every player linked with a rival. They do, however, need to avoid drifting if Carrick sees Thuram as a strong fit.

At around £43m, Thuram would not count as a cheap signing. He may still represent better value than some of the alternatives, especially if United cannot move closer to the higher end of the market.

The issue for United is role clarity. Thuram would need to arrive as more than another midfield body. Carrick would have to see a clear place for him in the team, either as a ball-carrier, a physical partner for a deeper midfielder or a long-term upgrade in central areas.

United have missed out on targets already this summer. Liverpool’s involvement means the club may not get long to assess this one.

If Carrick wants a Premier League-ready midfield athlete at a manageable price, Thuram belongs in the conversation.

United’s next decision is whether to treat him as a priority or let the race move elsewhere.
