Andrey Santos is expected to undergo his Manchester United medical on today, after the club agreed a £50m deal with Chelsea for the Brazil international midfielder.
Sky Sports reports the package is worth £48m guaranteed plus £2m in add-ons, with Chelsea retaining a 10 per cent sell-on clause. Personal terms are already in place, and David Ornstein reports that Chelsea have granted the 22-year-old permission to complete his medical. Fabrizio Romano stated on Wednesday night that the examination was scheduled for Thursday.
Santos faced a fight for regular starts at Stamford Bridge, with Moises Caicedo’s contract extension until 2033 blocking his path to a first-team role. United identified the Brazilian as a key piece of their midfield overhaul this summer.
If the medical passes without issue, Santos would become United’s second signing of the window, following Ederson’s move from Atalanta. An announcement could follow within days, giving Michael Carrick two new midfielders in place before pre-season training begins at Carrington.
