Manchester United are expected to announce the signings of Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow on Friday after both players moved into the final stage of their deals.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Santos passed his Manchester United medical on Thursday and that all documents have now been signed between United and Chelsea.
The 22-year-old Brazil midfielder is set to join on a contract running until June 2031, with the option of a further year. Sky Sports has reported the package is worth £48m plus £2m in add-ons, with Chelsea retaining a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
Santos is the major arrival in Michael Carrick’s midfield rebuild. ReadManUtd recently covered how the Brazilian travelled for his medical after United agreed a £50m deal with Chelsea.
Darlow Adds Cover As Attention Turns To Ederson
Romano has also given his “here we go” to Darlow, with the 35-year-old goalkeeper set to join on a free transfer after leaving Leeds United.
He is expected to provide experienced support for Senne Lammens and strengthen Carrick’s goalkeeping group before the new season.
The double move gives United another push after a difficult period in the market, with several midfield targets having gone elsewhere earlier in the summer.
Attention now turns to Ederson. United are still waiting on the outcome of the Atalanta midfielder’s second medical assessment, which will decide whether Carrick adds another Brazilian to his midfield before pre-season ramps up.
