Man Utd unleash £48m signing in Wrexham squad

Manchester United have included new £48m signing Andrey Santos in their 25-man travelling squad to face Wrexham in Helsinki.

The Brazil midfielder could make his first appearance for the club during Saturday’s pre-season opener after completing his move from Chelsea earlier this week.

Bryan Mbeumo, Joshua Zirkzee, Mason Mount, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro are among the established first-team players travelling with Michael Carrick.

United confirmed the full travelling squad on their official website, with Carrick also selecting several academy prospects for the trip to Finland.

Santos and academy stars handed early chance

Shea Lacey, Chido Obi and Ethan Wheatley are included among the attacking options. Ethan Williams, Jack Fletcher and Tyler Fletcher have also travelled.

Young defenders Jaydan Kamason and Dan Armer could receive senior minutes, while Jim Thwaites and Jacob Devaney have been named among the midfielders.

Tom Heaton is the most experienced of the three goalkeepers. Radek Vitek and Dermot Mee complete the options between the posts.

One notable absentee is Tyler Fredricson. The defender has been left out ahead of an expected permanent move away from Old Trafford, as Read Man Utd reported following an update from Simon Stone.

Benjamin Sesko, Youri Tielemans, Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and new goalkeeper Karl Darlow are also missing from the travelling party.

Carrick is likely to hand minutes to most of the squad as United begin preparations for the new Premier League season.

However, attention will centre on Santos. The midfielder has been placed straight into the group and could now make his United debut only days after arriving at Old Trafford.
