Manchester United make move for Real Madrid star despite new deal

Manchester United have made an enquiry over an Aurelien Tchouameni transfer from Real Madrid. The Red Devils remain interested despite reports that the France international has agreed a new contract in Spain.

Samuel Luckhurst reports that United have contacted Real Madrid about the midfielder. However, the Spanish club have not encouraged formal negotiations at this stage.

Tchouameni’s current contract runs until June 2028. Several reports claim he has agreed an extension until 2031, although Real Madrid have not officially announced the deal.

New manager Jose Mourinho planned to keep the 26-year-old as a key part of his midfield. However, Madrid’s growing interest in Manchester City midfielder Rodri could change the situation.

Aurelien Tchouameni transfer remains difficult

United want a specialist defensive midfielder following Casemiro’s departure. Tchouameni would provide physical strength, defensive awareness and experience at the highest level.

Michael Carrick has already added Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos to his midfield. However, neither player naturally fills the deeper role previously occupied by Casemiro.

ReadManUtd previously covered reports that Tchouameni had agreed a new Real Madrid contract. The lack of an official announcement appears to have encouraged United to make another enquiry.

Real Madrid would still hold a strong negotiating position. Tchouameni joined from Monaco in 2022 and remains one of Europe’s leading defensive midfielders.

United must also discover whether the player would consider leaving the Bernabeu. He has not publicly pushed for a move and recently helped France reach the World Cup semi-finals.

The Aurelien Tchouameni transfer would represent a major statement from United. However, Mourinho’s stance and the reported extension make an agreement difficult unless Madrid complete a move for Rodri.
