Manchester United are reportedly the lad runners as they are linked with highly-rated Leicester winger
Manchester United have already been busy in the summer transfer window, with six major signings arriving at Old Trafford. Although they have missed some big names linked to them in the transfer window, the Red Devils have done decent business so far.
Michael Carrick’s squad is looking to bolster his squad ahead of a fixture-packed season as the Champions League returns to Old Trafford.
As per the latest news, Manchester United are now chasing one of the brightest young talents outside the Premier League and are reportedly ahead of Arsenal in the chase.
Leicester City midfielder Louis Page has emerged as a serious target. The 18-year-old, who only turned 18 last month, has already made a name for himself for the League One side. He has made 22 first-team appearances for the Foxes so far, including five starts last season as the club suffered relegation from the Championship. He signed professional terms with Leicester in September 2025, meaning any club will need to agree a transfer fee with the League One side.
Manchester United and Arsenal battle for teenage midfielder
According to BBC Sport’s senior football correspondent Sami Mokbel, both Arsenal and Manchester United have been very active in the summer window. They are determined to add more quality to their squads ahead of the new season. Aston Villa are also keen on a deal for Page, who is an England Under-20 international.
Mokbel reported on BBC Sport: “Talks over an agreement are understood to be ongoing. Arsenal and Aston Villa have shown a big interest too in Page, who turned 18 last month, in recent weeks.”
Leicester themselves have previously described the youngster as “one of the brightest talents in our system” when he signed his professional deal. The teenager joined the club at under-9 level and made his senior debut against Huddersfield Town last season in the Carabao Cup in August 2025.
Manchester United lead the race ahead of Arsenal
Transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke has now provided a significant update on the situation. O’Rourke posted on X:
“Understand Manchester United and Arsenal have made bids for Leicester City’s highly-rated midfielder Louis Page. United favourites for the England U20 international with Page keen on move to Old Trafford.”
The teenager has already featured 22 times for Leicester’s first team and is described as a modern-day number eight, powerful on the ball. United have already strengthened their midfield this summer with the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, but the club is clearly planning for the long term as well.
With Page keen on a move to Old Trafford and Manchester United now favourites, this deal could be up for grabs as the transfer battle for the talented teenager intensifies.
