Tyrick Mitchell stance boosts Man Utd January hopes

Tyrick Mitchell stance boosts Man Utd January hopes

Manchester United have reportedly received encouragement in their pursuit of Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell ahead of the January transfer window.

United have been tracking the 27-year-old as Michael Carrick looks for greater competition on the left side of his defence.

Mitchell is now entering the final year of his Palace contract, potentially creating an opportunity for United to secure him for a reduced fee in January.

According to TEAMtalk, Mitchell is extremely keen on a possible move to Old Trafford and would find an offer from United difficult to reject.

Man Utd January move becoming more realistic

United’s interest is not new.

We previously reported that Manchester United were monitoring Mitchell’s Palace contract situation as they assessed left-back options.

The situation has now developed.

TEAMtalk’s earlier reporting says United are keeping a particularly close eye on Mitchell and that a January deal is becoming more realistic.

Chelsea and Liverpool have also been credited with interest.

Left-back remains a Man Utd priority

United chose not to sign a left-back during the summer despite being linked with Lewis Hall.

That has left Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu as Carrick’s main senior options.

Our complete Manchester United 2026 transfer tracker shows United instead concentrated heavily on rebuilding central midfield.

Mitchell’s contract situation may now give them another opportunity in January.

No formal bid has been confirmed and Palace are still trying to convince the defender to extend his deal.

For now, though, Mitchell’s reported stance should encourage United if they decide to turn their interest into a concrete offer.
