United’s summer business may be finished

Louis van Gaal may not bring in any more players during this summer market according to ESPN sources.

United were on track to bring in Pedro but has since done a U-turn and ended interest in the 28 year old with Chelsea now poised to sign him up.

van Gaal had been interested in the Barcelona winger after admitting he had the qualities he was looking for.

But the fact he opted not to activate the £22 million buyout clause over the last few weeks is a sign the Dutchman harboured doubts about whether to purchase him.

The United manager wanted another player to bolster the speed and creativity department following the departure of Angel di Maria to PSG.

But United consider Memphis Depay, who scored twice against club Brugge on Tuesday, as a replacement for Di Maria.

van Gaal has brought in Herrera, Shaw, Rojo, Blind, Darmian, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Memphis and Romero for a combined fee of roughly £170 million since taking over United just over a year ago.
