Benjamin Sesko just echoed Manchester United fans opinions on Michael Carrick

Benjamin Sesko has given his thoughts on Michael Carrick and the Manchester United caretaker manager’s coaching methods. The Slovenian forward has yet to become a starter under Carrick, but has saved him on two occasions.

The 22-year-old scored a vital equaliser in a 1-1 draw against West Ham United midweek. This came after he bagged a last-gasp winner in a 3-2 win over Fulham.

Sesko might well have earned himself a start off the back of such exploits. Carrick could call upon the young striker for the trip to Everton on Monday (February 23rd).

Sesko in awe of Carrick

Any concerns fans had over Sesko potentially becoming frustrated over his lack of a starting role have been firmly put to bed. His relationship with Carrick seems to be extremely positive, judging by recent comments.

Sesko spoke on Manchester United’s Inside Carrington podcast about Carrick and his personality. He highlighted the English coach and his assistants approach:

“First of all, he’s an amazing person. That’s already meaning really a lot, but as well, a really good coach. And not just him, the whole staff that he has with him, they’re working unbelievably.”

Carrick’s appointment as United’s caretaker manager came in early January. He replaced Ruben Amorim, who was sacked after 14 months in charge.

Sesko arrived last summer from RB Leipzig in a £74m deal but struggled to convince earlier this season. He has started finding form under Carrick, who has propelled the Reds into the top four.

Carrick’s coaching team includes former Chelsea assistant Steve Holland and Jonathan Woodgate. Sesko couldn’t speak more highly about their impact:

“They’re giving all the details that you need to improve, to get better, to know what to do in the game, because it’s important,” he continued. And they’re always good with communications, as he and the other staff.

He added:

“So, I’m really happy that he came here and also happy with what we have achieved around it.”

Carrick’s man-management has been on display throughout his second spell as interim coach. He made sure that Sesko took in the Stretford End’s adulation after celebrating the win over Fulham.

Sesko must start vs Everton

Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against West Ham ended a four-game winning streak and prevented The United Strand from getting a haircut. It was a difficult night at the London Stadium that nearly ended in defeat.

Sesko then came off the bench midway through the second half to score an incredible 90+6th-minute equaliser. He has now bagged six goals in 21 league appearances, starting 11 of those games.

Everton are next up for the Reds and the Toffees. David Moyes is likely to set his team up in a similar fashion to the Hammers’ Nuno Espirito Santo’s pragmatic approach.

That’s why a target man should lead the line at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday. Sesko has been waiting in the wings for a start, and now is the right time to turn to the Slovenian.
