Manchester United have been handed a fresh Felix Nmecha transfer advantage after German reporting placed Old Trafford among the midfielder’s preferred destinations.
Bulinews, citing Bild, reports that the Borussia Dortmund midfielder would favour Manchester United or Manchester City over Newcastle United if a Premier League move develops this summer.
That gives United a useful opening, but not a finished deal.
Nmecha signed a Dortmund contract until 2030, and Bulinews adds that no release clause is active this summer. The report says clauses worth €80m in 2027 and €70m in 2028 are expected to come into play later.
For Michael Carrick, the profile makes sense.
United still need more midfield depth after moving for Ederson, and TEAMtalk reported that Fabrizio Romano expects the club to sign another midfielder this summer.
Read Man Utd has also covered how Real Madrid’s stance on Aurélien Tchouaméni has complicated United’s midfield search. Nmecha now gives Carrick a different route.
The 25-year-old offers height, ball-carrying range and No.6/No.8 flexibility. Those traits would help a United midfield that still needs legs, control and better cover across a long season.
But Dortmund’s position matters. Player preference can open a door, but it does not set the price.
United cannot afford another inflated midfield chase. If they move for Nmecha, the next step has to be controlled contact with Dortmund and a clear ceiling on the fee.
Preference helps. Price discipline decides whether this becomes real.
