Manchester United are showing strong interest in Crystal Palace forward Ismaila Sarr after his impressive World Cup form for Senegal.
The 28-year-old ended the tournament with four goals and one assist from four matches, including a goal in Senegal’s last-32 defeat to Belgium.
TEAMtalk reports that United have opened contact around a potential deal, with Sarr viewed as a forward who can play across the front line.
CaughtOffside also relayed that Palace are expected to demand a significant fee after Sarr’s World Cup performances strengthened his market.
That is the issue for Michael Carrick.
Sarr fits United’s attacking brief, but Palace do not need to sell cheaply.
Why Sarr Fits United’s Forward Search
Sarr would give United pace, Premier League experience and positional flexibility.
He can play from the right, attack central spaces and operate closer to the striker when needed. That makes the link easy to understand after a summer in which United have already looked to reshape the attack around Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
Sarr’s World Cup form also showed why his profile can appeal to Carrick.
CaughtOffside highlighted his goal against Belgium, where he controlled a long pass on his chest before finishing with power.
United need more players who can run beyond the ball and hurt teams in transition. Sarr can do that without needing a long Premier League adaptation period.
Read Man Utd has already covered how United’s attacking plans have been shaped by Carrick’s need for more direct forward options. Sarr belongs in that same conversation.
Palace Price Will Decide The Deal
The harder part is the fee.
Sarr is under contract at Crystal Palace until 2029, which gives the Eagles a strong negotiating position. His World Cup form has only made that stronger.
That leaves United with a familiar decision.
They can admire the player without letting a short tournament run dictate the price. Sarr’s Premier League record lowers the risk, but Palace’s valuation will decide whether this becomes realistic.
Read Man Utd has also looked at how United stepped away from more expensive midfield routes earlier in the window. The same discipline should apply here.
If Palace’s number stays sensible, Sarr would be one of the sharper attacking options available to United.
If the fee moves too far, Carrick’s recruitment team should be prepared to walk.
