Manchester United’s midfield search has narrowed into a familiar price-versus-profile test after Aurelien Tchouameni and Alex Scott emerged high on the club’s summer shortlist.
Sky Sports report that Real Madrid midfielder Tchouameni and Bournemouth’s Scott are both high on United’s list, with Ayyoub Bouaddi also of interest.
The same report states that West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville is United’s favoured left-sided attacking option, but midfield remains the bigger structural call for Michael Carrick.
Carrick Needs A Clean Midfield Decision
United like Tchouameni’s level and Scott’s profile for different reasons.
Tchouameni would bring Champions League pedigree, physical control and elite defensive range. Scott offers Premier League rhythm, carry power and a younger growth curve.
Neither route looks simple. Sky report that United are assessing their next options after seeing Matheus Fernandes join Tottenham, while Real Madrid’s midfield reshuffle complicates the Tchouameni route. Bournemouth’s firm stance on Scott means that deal would also require a serious push.
ReadManUtd has already covered how Manchester City’s Elliot Anderson move sharpened United’s midfield pivot. This shortlist sits in the same market reality.
United cannot afford another summer where admiration fails to become a deal. Carrick needs one more high-level midfielder, but the next move has to be executable as well as ambitious.
Tchouameni and Scott both make sense on paper. The harder job is choosing the one United can actually land without losing the rest of the window.
