Man Utd linked with Iliman Ndiaye but Everton star is not the priority

Manchester United have taken a look at Iliman Ndiaye as the transfer window enters its final days, but it is difficult to see the Everton forward becoming a priority at Old Trafford.

TEAMtalk claim United are among the clubs to have looked closely at the Senegal international. Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested, with City considering a £80 million bid.

Everton, though, have spent much of the summer making it clear that they don’t want to sell Ndiaye. His contract situation could still make things interesting, as he has yet to agree fresh terms.

Why Man Utd don’t need Iliman Ndiaye

Iliman Ndiaye had a decent season for Everton, finishing with six goals and three assists despite missing time while away with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

He can play from either wing, which is probably why United have kept an eye on him. But that’s also where the problem lies.

Michael Carrick already has Bryan Mbeumo, Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo, Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha who can operate in those areas. Signing another wide player would leave Carrick with an even bigger selection headache.

There are two positions that needs urgency.

Joshua Zirkzee is expected to leave Manchester United, potentially leaving Benjamin Sesko as the club’s only striker. United are also still looking for another left-back, with Luke Shaw currently the only senior specialist in that position. Jorge Salinas has agreed personal terms but and agreement is yet to be completed. Meanwhile, Dorgu has been used further forward, while Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have had to cover on the left.

There is no question the Everton forward is attracting serious attention. City could make a huge offer, while Liverpool are also watching. United, however, have bigger gaps to deal with before the deadline.
