- Manchester United are keeping tabs on Belgian winger
- The player is expected to leave Aax this summer
- Arsenal and other European sides are interested
Manchester United have pinpointed their next attacking target for the summer transfer window, with the Red Devils now showing interest in Belgian winger Mika Godts. While United will prioritise midfield reinforcements this summer, clear scope remains to upgrade other areas of the pitch—most notably out wide.
United sit just weeks away from a revolving-door summer. INEOS plan to offload a host of players to expand the financial room required for incoming deals. The winger role stands out as one of the positions United must strengthen.
At present, United effectively rely on a single natural winger in Amad Diallo, yet the Ivorian has operated predominantly as a wing-back over the past year and has struggled to rediscover his rhythm under Michael Carrick.
United will actively pursue reinforcements to introduce genuine competition for that role.
United in for Belgian winger
According to Graeme Bailey of Teamtalk, a wide array of clubs—particularly across the Premier League—have closely tracked the 20-year-old winger.
While United continue to monitor the emerging talent, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Leeds United have all dispatched scouts or maintained close observation of his situation.
A cluster of Premier League sides gathered in the Netherlands on Saturday 25 April to watch Godts in action, and he delivered a moment of genuine brilliance.
Collecting possession on the halfway line, the Belgian surged forward, weaving past three defenders—beating one twice—before cheekily executing a roll-over to leave goalkeeper Daniel Bielica grounded, allowing Godts to finish into an empty net.
Quite simply, one of the finest goals the youngster will ever score, and a legitimate contender not only for Eredivisie goal of the season but even for the Puskas Award.
Labelled the new Eden Hazard, it is immediately clear why that comparison has surfaced.
The Belgian possesses a rare quality: the ability to keep the ball magnetised to his stride at full speed—an exceptionally difficult technical trait to master.
It defined Hazard’s peak. During his time at Chelsea, the ball seemed tethered to his boots, never straying more than a few centimetres regardless of tempo.
Godts mirrors that control.
Yet he offers far more than just close control. This season alone, he has recorded 16 goals and supplied 13 assists.
On five separate occasions this campaign—the most recent arriving on Saturday—the winger has delivered both a goal and an assist in the same match.

Chance of Godts coming
While interest from England remains strong, Godts’ performances this season have drawn attention from across Europe, including RB Leipzig, Atletico Madrid, and Barcelona.
If United intend to secure his signature, they will need to navigate a fiercely competitive market. Beyond that, a broader strategic question emerges—do United genuinely want to revisit the Ajax recruitment pathway that has previously faltered?
Under Erik ten Hag—himself appointed from Ajax—the club leaned heavily on that network. During his tenure, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Andre Onana, and Antony all arrived from the Dutch side.
While Martinez and De Ligt have delivered high-level performances, recurring injury issues have disrupted continuity. Revisiting that same recruitment route carries clear upside—but also familiar risk.
