Benjamin Sesko has reported for Manchester United pre-season but is still being managed carefully as he builds towards full training.
Samuel Luckhurst reports that Sesko returned to Carrington on Thursday, but did not appear in any of the images United released from their gym and outdoor sessions.
United have prepared a special programme for the striker as part of his rehabilitation. The 23-year-old is now working towards the point where he can resume full training.
The update follows a shin issue which kept Sesko out of the final weeks of last season. The Sun reports that the Slovenia international is expected to be fit for the start of the new campaign, although United are not rushing his return.
ReadManUtd recently covered how United rejected transfer interest in Benjamin Sesko during a busy attacking rebuild, with Michael Carrick still planning around him as a key centre-forward option.
Carrick Needs Sesko Fit, Not Rushed
Sesko’s absence from training imagery should not create alarm on its own. At this stage of pre-season, a tailored programme is often about control rather than concern.
United need him available for the proper work ahead, not forced into early sessions for appearances. Carrick’s first full campaign will need a reliable No.9, especially with Champions League football returning.
That is why patience makes sense. Sesko scored 12 goals in 32 appearances last season and gives United height, penalty-box presence and pressing power through the middle.
ReadManUtd also reported on Andrey Santos’ £50m arrival as part of Carrick’s wider squad rebuild, and the same logic applies here. United are trying to build a more durable team, not simply win the first week of pre-season content.
The next marker will be whether Sesko can join full training before the early friendly schedule begins.
For now, United’s approach looks sensible. Get him fit properly, then let Carrick build the attack around him.
