  • Man Utd prepare huge offer for Aurelien Tchouameni
  • Real Madrid star top of club’s wishlist
  • Frenchman is ideal Casemiro replacement

Manchester United are reportedly ready to test Real Madrid’s resolve with a big-money offer for Aurelien Tchouameni. The French midfielder is the club’s top target as they look to replace Casemiro.

According to Ekrem Konur, the Red Devils are considering a staggering €80 million (around £68m) bid for Tchouameni. That fee seems to be a starting point given that he joined the La Liga giants for £85m back in July 2022.

Tchouameni is one of many midfielders on INEOS’ wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window. He ticks plenty of boxes for the Reds in their mission to find a viable Casemiro heir.

Man Utd readying Tchouameni bid

United may be “readying” a massive financial package to tempt the La Liga giants, but getting the deal over the line will be an uphill battle. It is noted that Madrid president Florentino Perez is currently digging in his heels.

Perez insists that the midfielder is not for sale and expects him to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer window. He is one of the key players in Jose Mourinho’s squad and the Portuguese coach hasn’t even started his role.

That said, an €80m formal offer would certainly test Madrid’s resolve, especially if United can pitch Tchouameni as the undisputed face of a new-look midfield project in Manchester. He has been involved in behind-the-scenes drama at the Bernabeu, which saw him get physical with Federico Valverde.

The Ultimate Successor

United’s hunt for a long-term defensive midfield general has been an open secret. While Casemiro brought elite experience and immediate silverware to Old Trafford upon his arrival, Father Time and the physical demands of the Premier League mean the recruitment team must look to the future.

At 26 years old, Tchouaméni represents the absolute gold standard for a modern, physical, and technically gifted defensive midfielder, making him the ideal heir to Casemiro’s throne.

The report claims that Michael Carrick and his coaching staff view the French international as a key target. Carrick, who knows exactly what it takes to dictate play from the base of a Manchester United midfield, is said to be highly enthusiastic about bringing the Frenchman to the Theatre of Dreams.
