Manchester United would reportedly be prepared to finance a move for Harry Kane should the England captain become available from Bayern Munich.
Kane has entered the final year of his current contract, which Bayern’s official website confirms runs until 30 June 2027. The German champions are working to extend his stay after another prolific season.
According to TEAMtalk, United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains a major admirer of Kane and would support a significant investment if a realistic opportunity emerged.
Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring developments, while Barcelona and Real Madrid have reportedly made enquiries.
Man Utd interest faces major Bayern obstacle
United’s admiration for Kane is understandable.
The 32-year-old remains one of Europe’s most complete centre-forwards and would give Michael Carrick a proven finisher, experienced leader and focal point in attack.
However, Bayern remain confident of retaining him.
Talks over a new contract have been under way for several months, and the Bundesliga club believe an extension is more likely than a transfer. Kane has also appeared settled in Munich, where he has won domestic honours and maintained an exceptional scoring record.
ReadManUtd recently examined why Bayern’s contract plans make a Kane move increasingly difficult, despite his obvious appeal to United.
The financial commitment would also be considerable. United would need to agree a substantial fee, cover Kane’s wages and decide whether investing heavily in a striker entering his mid-30s fits their wider recruitment strategy.
Kane would improve Carrick’s side immediately. The more difficult question is whether Bayern will ever give United the chance to act.
For now, their interest appears conditional rather than active. Bayern’s contract talks remain the decisive factor, with United ready to move only if those negotiations create an unexpected opening.
