Midfielder joins Luton from Man Utd on deadline day

Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore has completed a season-long loan move to Luton Town, with the League One side also holding a conditional option to buy.

The 21-year-old joins Jack Wilshere’s side after a strong season at Rotherham United. Gore made 41 appearances last campaign and was named their Player of the Season despite the club’s relegation from League One.

Dan Gore gets another chance to develop

This isn’t Gore’s first spell away from Old Trafford. He previously spent time with Port Vale and has now earned another opportunity to play regular senior football.

Dan Gore joined Manchester United from Burnley as a 14-year-old in 2018 and was part of the club’s FA Youth Cup-winning side in 2022. He was also named United’s reserve team player of the year for the 2022-23 season.

His senior opportunities with Manchester United have been limited, however. He has made two first-team appearances, including his Premier League debut against Aston Villa in December 2023, while also featuring in the League Cup against Crystal Palace.

Luton boss Wilshere believes Gore offers something different to his midfield.

“He’s got something a little bit different.”

Wilshere added: “He’s aggressive in duels. He can carry the ball. He’s got personality on the pitch. He loves a tackle, and he’s someone that we kept our eye on in the second game up there.”

Gore is clearly happy with the move too.

“I’m buzzing to get it done. I know Luton is a big club, and I like the style that Jack is trying to play.”

Another loan spell could be important in deciding what comes next for the midfielder.

After an impressive year at Rotherham, Dan Gore gets another chance to show what he can do.
