Manchester United Identify Two Reasons to Sign England International

Share
  • Manchester United show interest in Alex Scott
  • Michael Carrick’s side are big fans of AFC Bournemouth midfielder
  • Two reasons stand out

Manchester United are eyeing AFC Bournemouth sensation Alex Scott to bolster their midfield for two key reasons in particular.

With Casemiro set to depart Old Trafford at the end of the season and Mason Mount as well as Manuel Ugarte’s future being uncertain, United could do with the addition of another midfielder.

Scott is on Manchester United’s radar and understandably so, considering he has emerged as one of the most in-form midfielders in the Premier League this campaign.

The good news for United supporters is that the club seem to have already decided how the 22-year-old could improve their side.

Why Manchester United want to sign Alex Scott

The Mirror have reported that Manchester United are huge admirers of Scott for two reasons in particular.

  • His character
  • Scott’s ability to carry the ball and venture forward

Scott’s impressive showing against Arsenal recently and even in United’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth are considered performances that have caught the attention of several top clubs.

The youngster’s “determination and quality” against the crème de la crème of English football has stood out to his suitors, who view him as a top prospect.

United are believed to have been making sure to stay informed about Scott’s situation, as have Chelsea.

Strengthening the midfield department is the Red Devils’ priority in the summer, with Manchester United targeting Elliot Anderson and Aurelien Tchouameni linked to Michael Carrick’s side among other names.

Alex Scott compared to Kobbie Mainoo

With Pep Guardiola describing Scott as an “unbelievable player” (via Team Talk) when watching him play for Bristol City after Manchester City’s 3-0 win in 2023, he seemed destined to reach the top one day.

A part of Manchester United’s scouting process must be to see how he compares to their current midfielders, especially Kobbie Mainoo, who is also a number eight by trade.

Judging by the numbers, both Scott and Mainoo seem to be operating at similar levels. The prospect of the pair playing in tandem at Manchester United should excite the Old Trafford faithful.
