Eduardo Camavinga’s potential transfer to Man Utd appears unlikely after the midfielder decided that he wants to remain at Real Madrid.
Manchester United have spoken with his representatives, but Fabrizio Romano says the France international intends to fight for his place in Spain.
United contacted Camavinga’s camp to understand whether he would consider leaving Madrid. However, they have not opened negotiations with the Spanish club.
Romano said the 23-year-old has maintained the same position throughout the summer. Camavinga wants to work under José Mourinho and establish himself in the Real Madrid midfield.

“Camavinga wants to stay,” Romano said. He added that the player currently wants to represent Real Madrid next season, although his position could still be reassessed before the transfer window closes.
Madrid may be prepared to discuss a sale, but United would first require approval from Camavinga. His contract runs until June 2029, leaving the Spanish club under little pressure to accept a reduced offer.
The midfielder made 43 appearances last season but started only 23 times. He was used in central midfield and at left-back as Madrid rotated their options.
United have already signed Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer. Michael Carrick still wants another midfielder who can provide greater defensive protection and cover ground alongside his more creative players.
ReadManUtd reported on Tuesday that Manu Koné is currently United’s leading midfield target. The club have held concrete discussions with the Roma player’s representatives, although they have not submitted an offer.
Camavinga would offer the athleticism and versatility United require. However, there is little value in approaching Madrid unless the player becomes open to leaving.
United may therefore continue their work on Koné and other available options while monitoring Camavinga’s position.
